Trust Combination Hackamore Eliptical
The Trust Combination Hackamore Eliptical is a specialized horse bit designed for strong horses. Let’s break down its features:
- Mouthpiece: The mouthpiece is made of sweet iron, which horses tend to enjoy due to its pleasant taste. The eliptical lozenge shape provides more pressure on the tongue compared to other mouthpieces. This makes it suitable for stronger horses.
- Pressure Points: The Trust Combination Hackamore Eliptical applies pressure to both the nose and the tongue. It features adjustable screw-in stoppers, allowing the rider to customize the position of the bit in the horse’s mouth.
- Shank Options: The bit comes with short shank and long shank options. The longer shank applies more pressure to the nose, while the shorter shank applies reduced nose pressure. When used correctly, this bit can be quite strong and effective.
- Rust and Sweetness: The sweet iron mouthpiece is designed to rust with use, enhancing its sweet taste. Rusting is not harmful to the horse.
In summary, the Trust Combination Hackamore Eliptical is a robust bit that combines pressure on the nose and tongue, making it suitable for strong horses. If you prefer a softer mouthpiece, consider the Inno Sense Soft Flexi Hackamore.
Available in 125mm, 135mm and 145mm.
Horse Bits From Trust Equestrian.
A TRUST-bit is completely handmade. All the components are welded together and polished by hand. Heating the sweet iron for a short amount of time, gives it, its beautiful deep blue colour. The final touch is stamping the size and brand name onto the bit.
Both the Inno Sense and leather bits are also handmade in the Netherlands.
Sweet Iron develops surface rust through contact with air and humidity. This rust is sweet in taste and naturally stimulates the saliva production. As it causes the horse to salivate more, it encourages a better acceptance of the bit.
Is Sweet Iron right For My Horse?
Sweet iron rusts when it comes into contact with the air and humidity. This surface rust tastes sweet and pleasant to a horse. As a result this naturally stimulates the saliva production. This therefore causes the horse to salivate, so as a result the horse takes better contact with the bit.
Please be aware that over time the process of oxidation of the bit, causes the bit to rust and change from the blue colour to a brownish iron colour. If not used. The sweet iron bit will develop an orange-brown rust layer on the mouthpiece. Remove by wiping with a damp cloth.
