Tendon Boots Bamboo Velcro
Designed with sustainability and performance in mind, the Tendon Boots Bamboo Velcro introduce an innovative, eco-conscious protection technology using one of nature’s most remarkable materials: bamboo. These boots combine advanced impact protection, exceptional breathability, and freedom of movement for modern sport horses.
The strong yet lightweight TPU outer shell features multiple ventilation holes and an enlarged triangular mesh zone to optimise airflow and cooling during work. The tendon area is reinforced with a Bamboo Shield, offering outstanding protection against impact and penetration from sharp edges of horse shoes, while remaining naturally anti-bacterial.
An improved anatomical cut allows maximum freedom of movement, supporting natural motion and athletic performance. Internally, a highly breathable 3D Spacer lining provides superior comfort and ventilation, helping to keep the horses legs cool and dry during exercise.
The boots are Rico Test approved and RCT certified, ensuring they meet rigorous safety and performance standards.
Why Bamboo Shield?
With sustainability at the core of Kentucky Horsewear’s design philosophy, they developed a green technology using a material everyone recognises — bamboo. As the fastest-growing plant in the world, bamboo offers exceptional tensile strength, natural anti-bacterial properties, and excellent resistance to penetration.
The tendon area is reinforced with a Bamboo Shield insert to protect against sharp objects, while high-risk flex zones are fitted with a soft natural rubber insert to reduce friction during movement. The inside of the boot is further reinforced with an additional TPU layer to withstand high abrasion in demanding conditions.
To ensure maximum protection, we developed an in-house testing machine that applies an 80N force onto a horizontal horse leg using a razor-sharp axe — an extreme test far beyond real riding conditions. The Bamboo Shield boots successfully withstand this test, demonstrating their exceptional protective capabilities.

Shape & Fit
The anatomically shaped design allows the boots to sit securely around the horse’s leg, offering maximum comfort and protection without restricting movement. This fit supports optimal performance, especially over fences. A soft, flexible rubber insert below the joint enhances comfort where the leg flexes most.
