Head Collars
Head Collars
The head collars range is anchored by Kentucky Horsewear and Dy’on and covers four main material formats: traditional leather, nylon webbing, soft velvet, and rope. Leather options range from soft pull-up working leather to flexible padded versions and anatomic shapes cut to clear pressure points around the cheek and poll, with several pairing the leather upper with a sheepskin-lined noseband for sensitive horses. Nylon versions cover everyday yard handling and turnout, with breakaway and sheepskin-padded options included for safety-conscious or thinner-coated horses. Velvet head collars sit between the practical and decorative ends of the range, with both adult and pony-sized novelty designs alongside plain colourways.
Specialist formats handle harder-to-manage horses and specific yard tasks. Controller head collars use a pressure point system across the nose and poll for stronger handling situations, and a stallion ring version adds a rope across the nose for additional control during in-hand work. A combined head collar and grazing muzzle handles laminitis-prone or weight-managed horses in one piece of kit, and a dedicated grooming head collar from Dy’on opens fully across the throat to allow plaiting and ear clipping without removing the headcollar. Rope halters from Grooming Deluxe, Kentucky, and Dy’on cover groundwork and training use, with knots positioned along the noseband for pressure-based handling cues.
Sizing across the range spans Shetland Pony through to Extra Full, with replacement anatomic head pieces stocked separately for worn-out parts. Matching lead ropes and head collar accessories sit within the same head collars and lead ropes parent section, and the wider grooming range covers the brushes, sprays, and finishing products that pair with the grooming head collars during daily turnout prep.
