LoveHorses Body Bandage Spur Guard
The LoveHorses Body Bandage Spur Guard is designed to prevent rubbing and abrasions on the horse’s skin. It reduces the friction caused by the rider’s leg moving against the horse’s side, which can lead to marks and sores where the coat may become thin, resulting in sore and sensitive skin.
Under current international competition rules, finding blood on a horse’s flanks results in automatic disqualification from that class. Consequently, it has become common to see horses wearing Body Bandages in the ring to reduce friction that can thin the coat and cause sore, sensitive skin. This is particularly an issue for thin-skinned horses and those that have been recently clipped, which are prone to spur sores.
Employing the use of a Body Bandage can help prevent the formation of sores, while a Spur Guard can protect against further injury to thin skin. The lightweight, soft elastic material acts like a second layer of skin, offering protection at all times.
With the rise in popularity of the Body Bandage, less expensive and inferior imitations have entered the market, leading riders to believe they are using the original, durable body bandage. It is important to be cautious of these less expensive brands and not confuse them with the original Love Horse Body Bandage. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for, and very much so in this case.
How to use the Body Bandage
Wrap the body bandage around the horse’s body in the saddle area, ensuring it is in direct contact with the coat, and secure the Velcro fastening underneath.
Two lightweight plastic clips, which are adjustable, fasten the spur guard to the saddle’s D-rings. This allows the bandage to be positioned precisely where the most protection is needed.
Four adjustable side straps connect to the girth, preventing the spur guard from slipping backwards.
The bandage is approved by the FEI for competition use.
The resistance of the bandage has undergone extensive testing for durability. It is advisable not for use in conjunction with sharp spurs. Blunt and rounded spurs are also available here.

The measurements above are when the fabric in not under any tension so is able to stretch a lot more than these quoted measurements. For Example the Extra Full size stretches to 250cm.
